I'm Still Here...

I started this and then it disappeared! Oh well, here we go again. The blog hiatus is over for now, I think. Just every once in a while time dictates a break. And while I wasn't doing anything pressing, life took me away for the time.
Did you see the moon the other day?
Pretty impressive, isn't it? I've got to get them uploaded to Flickr yet but feel free to browse the pics.
We did five loads of laundry at my mom's yesterday because we are very short on funds. Very, very short. We ate leftover when we got there and then they fed us spaghetti for supper. It's was really nice to see and visit with them again. And speaking of family my 16 year old sister has gotten her driver's license! That's it-I'm moving to Maine!
Well, hopefully I will post again on Wednesday when the hubby goes to work. Have a great day! Ciao!

Appetizer
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest) how much do enjoy watching sports on television? Oh probably a five-I love baseball but to heck with the rest of them.

Soup
If you could completely memorize any one work of fiction, which one would you pick? Drawing a blank on this-in non-fiction it would have to be the Bible.

Salad
What is your favorite breakfast food? Cereal-preferably chocolate!

Main Course
Name something fun you can do for less than $10.00. Picnic at a park.

Dessert
How long does it usually take you to fall asleep? Depends-sometimes we go lie down and read for a while sometimes my hubby has to drag me to bed so I'm not sleeping on the couch.

Please excuses my answers this week-I've had a mild bug that has kicked my butt to Toledo and back. Here's hoping tomorrow is better than the past day! And play along here.

Ewwwwww!

I mentioned bugs in the other post right?
I went to use the down arrow and this is what I touched:

Oh yuck gross! But before I got a Kleenex's-he was dead-I snapped a few pictures!
Now off to bleach my fingers!!!!Yuck!

AWOL

No excuses for my absence just not much to talk about. I spend a lot of time on the 'puter and yet it's mainly checking email, Bloglines, and chatting with the hubby. I am not as productive as I wanted to be this summer but Chris is so insistent on me just taking it easy. The house is picked up, the kitchen stays clean, and things are mostly better in the housing department.
I have gotten into a lot of music again this summer. I downloaded Winamp and am just loving it. It scanned my computer for anything on it and then added it to Winamp. I've been putting a lot of CD's on the computer. Burning a few for my dad who loves bluegrass.

The other thing I've done is a lot of movies. We've seen quite a few and a lot of that is from renting from Blockbuster. Something I've been doing through Netflix is to watch Law and Order from the beginning. Season 1 of L&O. I have been enjoying this. I've got Bridge to Terabithia to watch yet. We bought that movie and I haven't seen it! I've also got Spanglish to watch before Monday night. Maybe this morning.
In a way, summer is a time to be lazy. To do nothing and feel justified by the heat. I so cannot wait till it gets cooler and it's soups and chili weather again. But I can't complain-although we have gotten so much rain it has kept temps lower than normal. I don't think we've seen the upper 90's let alone 100 yet. And it is because of the rain. But because of the rain we've got bugs galore and flooding and mushrooms in my potted petunia!!!
I've got a thing with my tart burner, for a different subject. I go maybe twice a year and spend thirty bucks on tarts. Bad girl, I know, but that's about the only real indulgence I cry out for. I like my house to be a good smelly. I go only to Yankee Candle Store and get them and they rotate stock every so often-heavier scents in the winter and lighter scents in the summer. Last time I went I got one called Fresh Mint and wasn't sure about it. It's not something I am yelling and jumping up and down and saying, "I love this scent!" But you know what, it's a different, light scent that makes a huge difference. It's like my pot-pot is chewing a piece of mint gum without the sugar!
We went to a car show yesterday and I really enjoyed myself. Which explains the car pics scattered throughout this post! I hope everyone is having a great summer and a wonderful weekend. Ciao!

Friday Feast

There was no Friday Feast last week. But we're back this week, so without further adieu...

Appetizer
What is your favorite fruit? Strawberries!! Rinsed and with sugar or cut up with sugar sprinkled on and let set for a couple of hours then apply to pancakes or shortcake.

Soup
Who is someone you consider as a great role model? Jesus is the first thing that came to mind.

Salad
If you were to spend one night anywhere within an hour of your home, where would you choose? We've got a couple of lakes within an hour and I'd like to stay in one of the cabins for the night-preferably in the winter with a fireplace. In Oklahoma in the winter it would be cool but not freezing and you could do a hike and a romantic dinner in front of the fire. Hint, hint hubby!

Main Course
Name something you do too often. Read, apologize, and play on the net.

Dessert
Fill in the blank: I really like ___________ because ____________. My hubby/he's my best friend!

Fourth

I feel like crap thanks to a mild sinus infection. At least that's what I think it is-just like every other time my sinuses decide to riot. And I am so darn tired-just really dragging here lately. And I've been getting enough sleep so I am not sure what's going on. Just need lots of fluid and sleep. It'll all be okay in the end :)

We ended up going over to my parents on the 4th in the evening. We took separate cars and I did a load of laundry at mum's. Chris got ready for work and left at 840 pm. Then he called at 855 pm saying he wasn't suppose to work! So he came back to my mom's and we watched my brother set off a few 'crackers. It was nice but next year, I think we'll seek out something else. My family has become strangers to me and without going into details I think I'll just keep on putting some space between me and everyone else.
So with the hubby off for four days we watched lots of movies. Include the ultimate bang-bang, boom-boom movie Live Free or Die Hard. I think I saw the first one on TV years ago but I enjoyed the movie and so do my little brother whom we took. A great summer movie.
Well, that's all I got-I am yawning so bad! Off to veg in front of the TV!

Do I Really Need This?

I've been going through some old folders and binders tonight and come across some totally random crap. Like the most common place names are Fairview, Midway, Riverside, Oak Grove, Five Points.
Here's another thing: July is the best time to find prom and wedding wear and jewelry on sale. Also on sale is bathing suites and summer attire. Sounds reasonable to me.
I've got paperwork from 1997 stating I'm a ISFP personality. This website I found says that I am "quiet and reserved." Well, till you get to know me. Oh, and I can be difficult to get to know. As I say everyday, just leave me alone.
Also found a progress report for Algebra I. I just barely got through with a D-.

I also found class schedule from my senior year-1996-97. Found ACT scores-scored a composite 22. With the highest score in reading (that's not a shock) and the lowest in mathematics (see above).
Not all was school relate-I found a newspaper clipping about the Medal of Honor Recipients. There's a list online of living MOH recipients and how they earned their medals.
I've got some blog ideas now!
I hope y'all enjoy today and If I'm not back for a couple of days it's cause the hubby is off. Have a wonderful day!

What color?

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it's essential to take time off and ti make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow. Douglas Pagels

Rain

It's rained again here in Tulsa. It's wet and muggy and soggy and old. So here's some songs about the rain. Most of them are off the top of my head and I never want to hear them till it's August and hot, humid, and brown.

  1. Rainy Day Women No. 12 & 35 by Bob Dylan
  2. Early Morning Rain-Gordon Lightfoot
  3. It Must Be Raining-David Cassiday
  4. Here Comes the Rain Again-Eurythmics
  5. I'm No Stranger to the Rain-Keith Whitley
  6. Rainy Day People-Gordon Lightfoot
  7. Kentucky Rain-Elvis Presley
  8. Who Will Stop the Rain-CCR
  9. Songs About Rain-Gary Allen
  10. Mandolin Rain-Bruce Hornsby and the Range
  11. November Rain-GNR
  12. I Love a Rainy Night-Eddie Rabbit
  13. I Wish it Would Rain Down-Phil Collins/Genesis
  14. Singing in the Rain
  15. Rain, rain go away...
The pics aren't the greatest but it was at a real gully-washer, puddle-filler, heavens are angry downpour. How many more days?

Gordon Lightfoot

So the anniversary was okay. We went to a Gordon Lightfoot concert with my parents. There's actually a little back-story here. My dad had several Lightfoot LPs and would play them in the evening to put us to sleep. It's music that both comforts and soothes me. I knew so many songs that he played-I was singing along up in the balcony. He finished with one of my absolutely favorite songs-Old Dan's Records. It was so incredibly awesome.
So not much else happened over the weekend-Chris slept a lot. I figured he would as working six days weeks kinda suck. I took supper up tonight and we ate together.
I've been playing around trying to come up with something to say-but nothing. Then there's the pinging of the chat as my sweet hubby sends me something else. I'm just going to go-y'all have a great day!

Our First Anniversary!

Today is my first anniversary. Chris and I were married on June 26, 2006 here in Tulsa Oklahoma. We had been dating for six months and I am sure there were some in both families that wandered what the big rush is but we were living together and knew that it was wrong. We also knew that we couldn't live without each other as we had already opened Pandora's Box. Se we were wed.
Last night and this morning has me thinking a lot about the time line of events. Last night I was thinking about where I worked and going in the night before I got married. This morning thinking about going over to my mothers to sleep a few hours. Seeing my grandma when I came in the door. Lying down in my mom's bed and then having one of my sisters get me up and take me out to lunch. Running to the flower shop to pick up the flowers and going to Wal-Mart to get a gift for Chris. It was a silver watch with a blue face that he loves to wear.
Two of my sisters did my hair and makeup and it took a while. Then it was back to my mom's to watch everyone getting ready.
We made it to the chapel around 430-500 am and I changed. I hadn't talked to Chris all day and was really wanting to talk to him so bad. My sister sat with me and I slipped into hose and slip and a two-piece dress suite. It's off white or cream with a nice trimming in loop-de-doos around the bottom of the jacket. Earrings were put on and pearls my mother gave me. A few pictures were taken with my mom and grandma. And I paced. I asked about Chris and was so incredibly nervous.
My mom asked me if I was sure-and I was. I just hate being the focus of attention. Then mom was seated along with grandma. The lady that worked there came and got me. My dad met me at the back of the church. I gave him one last instruction-to say "Her mother and I do" to that question.
Then the music swelled, everyone stood and looked to the back of the church, and then Chris came out. This incredibly sense of peace came over me-it was going to be okay. It's just Chris. With gum in his mouth!
Doors opened and then dad and I were walking down the aisle. My big goofball made like he was worshiping me and a true smile spread across my face. My dad said his thing, my arm was placed in Chris', and I ordered him to spit out the gum. He didn't. Gee, things have really changed :)
We said our I dos, lit a candle, and tried really hard to just hang on to each other. Then I could finally kiss him again and we were presented as Mr. and Mrs. Chris Coffey.
I made it down the aisle (without ending up on my face) and I think we both took our first breath of the day. I remember just looking at each other and grinning. Our families came to the back to shake hands. We mingled for a few minutes. Then went to eat at Western Sizzlin. At the Sizzlin you can order a steak and then hit the all-you-can-eat buffet. Chris and I both had salads. We just about couldn't eat.We cut cake and drank apple juice. Then it was off.
His parents put us up for the night in the Embassy Suites. We spent a couple of hours in the suite and then realized-we were both hungry! So it was off to Burger King for a Whopper and fries.
We sat and ate on the sofa and opened gifts to each other. He like his watch and he gave me expensive perfume that I really wanted (Mackie by Bob Mackie). We talked and laughed. And eventually, a new day was upon us.
I loved every minute of our day. Nothing big, nothing fancy, but it was just right for the two of us. And it's been quite the year.
There have been times I wanted to strangle him or send him over Niagara falls in a barrel. And I am sure he has felt the same way. But we have many more good days than bad ones and I fall a little deeper in love with my hubby every day.
I should apologize for the long post but I won't. Time will eventually make details fuzzy and hard to remember. And what are anniversaries for but a time to look back and remember. Happy anniversary, sweetheart.

Morning Sky Over Tulsa

The hubby and I were chatting this morning as we usually do and he mentioned the morning sky looked unusual.

So I stepped outside with the camera and snapped away.

The sky was blue and the clouds dark blue and pink.

The grass was dewy and wet on my feet.
It was just really nice to be alive this morning.
To share a sunset with the hubby and have cool, wet toes.
Thank you Lord for this morning and this day.

Music!

I've uncovered a CD case of music my hubby has and have been putting on the 'puter here lately. Lots of Christian music-Jars of Clay and Phil Joel and Audio Adrenaline. Good stuff Maynard. It's only 210 am here in Tulsa and I've got things to be done but my momentum has decreased to zero. I'm chatting with the hubby. I can't seem to do anything else which becomes mildly frustrating. However, this insane schedule should end soon and then he won't have the time to be chatting all the time. I guess I shouldn't be complaining that he wants to spend time with me.
I am no good company tonight so I'm going to scoot on out of here. Ciao!
